Rosneft denies report on Venezuela using it to skirt sanctions

MOSCOW, Apr 19 (PRIME) -- Russian oil major Rosneft called a Reuters report about alleged avoidance of the U.S. sanctions by Venezuela through Russia a blatant lie and may even turn to law enforcers, Rosneft said in a statement on Friday.

“Reuters report headlined ‘Venezuela skirts U.S. sanctions by funneling oil sales via Russia’ is a blatant lie aimed at making provocations against Rosneft,” the company said.

Rosneft thinks it is necessary to consult with the law enforcement authorities “to prevent Reuters’ illegal activities” on the Russian territory as it systematically creates and distributes deliberate misinformation.

In its report, Reuters said that Venezuela allegedly sells oil to Rosneft at a discount, and the company then resells it.
